Long time ... no write

Well things have been ultra hectic at school so have had no real time to update the page ... not that anyone will notice but I did sort of promise myself ...
So the short version is, no surf time at all, North Coast was epic for a couple of weekends but with the Crash Tackle World Cup and fetching Khally and Keshia from Uni I didn't make it!!!

Officially I am now the Crash Tackle official WORLD CHAMPION which is odd but true. The day went well and my All Black team saw off all comers ....

Cyberboard wise had some good matches with Bevan ... managing to win 23-0 in the latest which is cool, my first 4 Nations match against Chris from Aussie land went well but now I face Marco with his unbeaten Italians ... will keep you informed!

Big waves and big games - but no time!

Sorry - bit of a delay in posting stuff lately. Missed the biggest waves at Broadstairs for many season the other day! There was a tidal surge down the east coast which was smaller than was predicted but threw up some BIG but offshore waves - unfortunately was at the Games Fest II event showing off Crash Tackle. The event was hampered by the 10 quid entry fee but we had a good time showing off the game and a good game against an Ozzie was had.

Furthermore Shaun and I have made a footy version which is playing great ... more of that later!

Cyberboard wise - if the game was real then the crowd would be going wild as Bevan and I are going end to end to try and finish the game off! Dirty play abounds and he just stopped me short of the line as a failed lineout was recouped by some creative holding in the lineout but then saw me fail to ruck the ball - he quickly scooped it out and hoofed it downfield where the chase is on!

Meanwhile on the other side of he cyberworld my game with Chris saw me score to much sledging on both sides!

If only we could get HG and Roy to do the commentary!

Thursday, 8 November 2007

Well I not only made the tackle but picked up, drove forward, flipped a pss up to the winger who took off and hoofed the ball downfield ... the chase is on!

Games on TV and the laptop!

Well sitting here after two nights of parent's evenings at school relaxing with a glass of wine, two cyberboard games and Sale versus Montpelier on the TV - life could be better, for instance Keshia has been to Newquay surfing today, but would be hard if it didn't involve surfing!

Sale looked pretty awesome to be honest - Cheval was like a man possesed, Cueto was on fire and Sheridan was policing the front row.

Cyberboard wise - my game against Bevan saw me pushing forward with the maul, it pushed forward sucking in his defence then released the ball across the backs for a big overlap. Bevan covered but with lots of holes - I was one pass away from the winger scoring when I failed the pass role. With only 2 moves left it could have been the try to level the scores but it was not to be.

In the game with Chris my burst down the wing was desperately covered by a dirty tackle, missed by all the officials he hoofed the ball out. My hooker screwed up and the aussies stole the lineout and then attacked the right side - desperate tackling might save me, but might not - we'll see!

Lots of games ... no surf

Well no surf for me this week, but lots of games of Crash Tackle both in real life and online!

Started a 4 nations match with Chris from Oz land and still battling away with Bevan in an end to end second half where he just cleared from his try line, mainly because my winger failed to drop on the ball !!! Testing his new kicking rules which are a big improvement which is saying something.

In real life though I had a disasterous game against Shaun last night in our 'club campaign' - 28 to ZIP. I don't think Shaun failed more than 2 rolls the entire game where as I made very few - it was one of those 'England' moments, every promising attack suddenly went pair shaped and saw his centre or winger throwing break away after break away cards to scamper down the field. Nearly put the game on Ebay :-)

Back to work blues

Well back to work unfortunately ... but still.

Failed to score on the run down the touch as the winger was dragged into touch - dodgy Australian line judge I think !

More later .....

Saturday, 27 October 2007

Missed a few days due to being away I am afraid. Went up to see a friend 'up north' and managed to get in a Crash Tackle game at Shire Games on Thursday night where England managed to win back the world cup :-)

Got a couple of copies of the game for the world cup day next month.

My game with Bevan is poised with me 14-7 down with half time looming but my winger on a big break down the sideline desperate to even it all to go in with at the half.

New kicking rules from Marco seem good and will have to try and get a game.

Went sufing at Watergate Bay today - very very big surf and was a real affair getting out the swell was running very strong. Keshia got on with her new board a lot better today which was good ... anyway off to have a game :-)

Fumbled balls and big kicks

Well after I put pressure on Bevan at the kick off he had an awful kick for touch. From the resulting line out a vicious ruck ensued (read neither of us could roll to gather). Eventually my scrum half got the ball out (no doubt after a bit of accidental stamping) and passed it to the full back who with the help of a massive kick and a pressure kick card hoofed it down to over the try line and the chase is on!!!!!

Not that I really care about motor racing but it's not been a good weekend for English sport really ... then disaster happens in my cyberboard game after the half time hooter - a wayward kick by Bevan sent me off down a blind side chip and run to finish the half. Then a series of cards - cool catch, hand off and two break aways means that Bevan's winger is away and untouchable!!!!

Just gutted ... that's all I can say really. The telly ref decision, right or wrong, decided the game I think.

Oh well ...
Well not that long to go now ... trepidation sets in!

Well France thrashed by the Argies - what a fiery game!

Can't wait til tomorrow!!!!!!!

Not an oval ball but ...

Well all I can say is BUGGER ... we have just blown our real chances of qualifying for the euro 2008! One nil up when a crazy 4 minutes meant Russia beat us !!!!!

On a better note at least my cyberboard rugby game is going better - from the scrum my scrum half made a blind side break, and with the aid of a smooth pass card and a breakaway card managed to get my winger away and he is SOOOOOoooo close - will keep you informed!

An air of foreboding ...

Don't even want to think about jinxing the weekend but my game with Bevan is not going as planned ... lots of handling eras on both sides sees me still behind but in a good position. However as my new pack of teams arrived today Shaun and I couldn't resist having a SA v. Eng game ... seven all until the last phase of the game which saw some dogged goal line defence thwarted by the SA team switching play and just getting in with the aid of a telly ref decision!!

It better go better than this on Saturday because I have this bet with a SA woman at school - whoever loses is at the beck and call of the other for the whole WEEK!!! COME ON ENGLAND!

Bevan scores an opportunist try!

Our next move in our game saw my 'Johnny' kicking deep to relieve pressure when Bevan sprang the miskick card, followed by a cool catch (to catch it with his half back who ws running back) then pass it to his winger who with the aid of a breakaway card zoomed in to score. It is hard to keep track of the cards in cyberboard unless I set it up differently, which of course I now will - had the cards to stop him as well - damn!

Oh well heres to revenge!!

Nearly time ... and what a day

12 minutes or so to kick off to find out who we play next week - makes sense that it will be South Africa, but you never know there have been a few upsets so maybe we are in for another.

Spent the day helping a friend out of a tricky situation, which is what I suppose being a friend is all about!

No more moves on the cyber game yet, I suppose Bevan is too busy getting ready for tonight. Made some balls for the game from milliput today and nearly did some painting of some of our Napoleonic game figures - but didn't quite make it.

oh well onto the real game!

Lazy Sunday morning - the haze of victory

Well just finished all my marking and it's not even 10am - slightly fuzzy after the slightly alcohol aided euphoria of last night but still, as the saying goes ... ready to rock and roll. Looks like the day is going to consist of organic veggie shopping and tidying the garden (a small price to pay for a glorious day of sport yesterday) before the rugby tonight.

So what is it that makes rugby more exciting than football ... can't quite put my finger on it but the household was ringing with shouting and cheering during the rugby (although I was watching it with Juni and Liz who don't even 'get' the game) while during the footy matches we are normally watching but talking about other things. Juni and Liz reckons it is that the commentary for the rugby is better and more vocal - never really thought about it.

Oh well off to do some chores ...

If you are a rugby fan you have to play this game ...

Crash Tackle is a board game from South Africa which replicates the game of rugby on a 1:1 level on your coffee table!

check their site out for more info and a proper review from me ...

Playing a game against Bevin (one of the designers) by cyberboard ... so far he has kicked off and I have gathered it rather shakily and let Jason Robinson hoof it down the field and chase with Lucy in hot pursuit ... will keep you informed!

YEHHHHHHHHHhhhh Go England

What a game, what a friggin game ... can't wait 'til next week now!

Oval balls no surf

Well a day of football and rugby - can't be bad.
Will promise to try and keep stuff appearing - honest.
